#32-Beware of Feedjit and MyBlogLog widget

Recently I have been analysing my sites and I was shocked about the truth of feedjit and my bloglog widget.
The Feedjit widget is a traffic feed in which displays the geographic area of the website’s visitors in real time. Even though it does not uncover the IP address of a visitor, many people do not like the invasion of privacy at having one’s city shown publicly.

I don’t want to write about the privacy context here but more about SEO and PageRank context. Recently I wrote about my website PageRank(PR) update and surprisingly I found out the outbound link on the widget is do-follow which will make your PR link juice share with other do-follow link. This is bad because the outgoing link on feedjit widget is about 10 links will be shared together with other link which I don’t want to. It does make your site look presentable but for me, PageRank is more important in order for me to earn money online. For that reason, I remove all the feedjit widget on all my websites.

Same goes for mybloglog widget. The outgoing link is do-follow as well. So, I removed it for my website.

I Googled for a quite some time to find the solution to remove the dofollow tag but found nothing to prevent me from removing those widgets. Here is the analysis from the SeoQquake firefox plugin that shows the links from those widgets are dofollow.

I RED’ed’ some of the links because they are not related to feedjit and mybloglog widgets also my site privacy.

I hope that the Feedjit and mybloglog team will put a nofollow tag on their javascript code so that I can put them again on my website.

Here is a little bit advice from me. If you are making money with PR website, don’t add those two widgets on your website because it has high possibilities that your PR will go down by next PR updates because the outgoing links on those two widgets are DoFollow.

BUT

If you are just having a blog/website for personal use, I recommended you to use those widgets because those widgets will make you blog/website look more beautiful and presentable.

Assalamualaikum dan salam sejahtera. Bersyukur kepada tuhan kerana memberikan peluang untuk masih hidup di bumi ciptaanNya ini. Minggu ini sedikit sibuk dengan persediaan untuk masuk university baru (Monash Uni) untuk setahun lagi (Honours Year). Sibuk menguruskan visa, jadual waktu, penempatan baru. Yelah, sebelum ni aku kat Melbourne Uni sekarang sudah pindah university pulak. Aku ade sebab sendiri kenapa aku pindah uni untuk Honours Year aku ni.

Berbalik kepada topik asal. Pada 18/2/2010, Denaihati telah mengumumkan keputusan pemenang pertandingan SEO HIDUP BERANI UNTUK GAGAL setelah beberapa bulan berlansungnya pertandingan ini. Aku pada mulanya mmg tak berhasrat lansung nak join pertandingan ini, tapi apabila dipaksa oleh MelayuBolehZone, aku join juga lah. Tanpa disangka-sangka, aku telah Berjaya mendapat 1st place dalam pertandingan itu. Dan membolehkan aku memenangi hadia wang tunai sebanyak RM450. Terima kasih sekali lagi kepada denaihati

Terima kasih juga kepada saudara KMZack Melayu Boleh kerana memberi kekuatan untuk meneruskan cabaran pertandingan. Tanpa beliau, mungkin aku tak dapat 1st place rasanya.
Banyak menda juga yang aku lakukan untuk proses pertandingan SEO ini. Aku akan ceritakan step by step How To SEO cara aku sendiri.

Mula-mula adalah dengan melakukan On-Page Optimization. Banyak peserta-peserta aku tengok ambik ringan atas perkara ni. On-Page Optimization ni amat penting bagi aku sebelum memulakan sesuatu proses SEO. Pastikan TITLE, DESCRIPTION, META Keyword mempunyai kata kunci pertandingan. Bagi kes ni, HIDUP BERANI UNTUK GAGAL. Selain itu aku juga perlu mempunyai H1 tag dalam page site aku dan H1 ni di link kepada Website aku menggunakan anchor HIDUP BERANI UNTUK GAGAL. Pemilihan themes juga memainkan peranan kerana jika googlebot susah nak crawl site kita, agak susah kita nak ranking. Ini berlaku sendiri kepada aku. Sebelum ni, aku guna pakai themes The Morning After. Themes ni memang lawa dan aku suka. Tetapi disebabkan themes ni agak complicated coding dia, google bot tak berapa nak suka site aku. Aku pon beralih arah kepada themes yang aku pakai sekarang ni, Kubick. Theme ni memang SEO optimized kalau korang nak tahu. Minimal coding dalam setiap files. Dan aku adjust beberapa perkara dalam themes ni untuk nak bagi themes ni tak berapa DULL. Ok. Siap untuk On-Page Optimization bagi aku. Ada sedikit2 lagi untuk korang spy aku punya On-page..

Seterusnya OFF-Page Optimization:
Langkah ni aku buat dengan komen di blog orang. Buat social bookmarking dengan kata kunci HIDUP BERANI UNTUK GAGAL. Aku perhatikan, kuantiti backlinks tak memainkan peranan sangat keatas SERPS tetapi Kualiti link yang kita dapat tu. Contohnya, page2 yang mempunyai PR yang tinggi yang banyak komen spam adalah lebih tak berkualiti dari page2 yang mempunyai PR yang rendah tetapi tak mempunyai komen spam.
Selain itu juga, aku variasikan kata kunci. Aku tak gunakan semua backlink aku HIDUP BERANI UNTUK GAGAL sahaja. Tapi, aku juga gunakan HIDUP BERANI, BERANI GAGAL, HIDUP GAGAL, HIDUP UNTUK, BERANI HIDUP.. Aku tak semuanya menggunakan HIDUP BERANI UNTUK GAGAL kerana kalau guna berlebihan mungkin akan dikenakan penalty oleh google.
Tu sahaja yang aku buat untuk mendapatkan tempat pertama bagi kontes HIDUP BERANI UNTUK GAGAL ini.
